EVi website... coming soon

EVi, a hard-fork of Vim v9.1.0 (Jan 2024) before AI was used in the project.

Available (still testing) prepackaged on the following platforms:

ArchLinux
Deb based distros (Debian, ubuntu, etc) This repo contains a script to build a deb package. Otherwise click here to download some preview packages
Nix follow the instructions in the readme
RPM-based Distros (RHEL, Fedora...)This is still work in progress.As of today packaging is not complete yet (help wanted)

The packages above are still in alpha release, if you want you can contribute by packaging for more platforms.

When EVi was born, we didn't expect all that much popularity, and we are very happy with it. But we need to be honest. There are only 4 people that give some of their free time to the EVi project which is very little. We are struggling to keep up with all the issues, and feature request implemented. So what we want to say is: don't worry, we go through all various issues, and try to give them a reply and look if it is at least doable. Considering also that none of us ever contributed to vim, this makes the development slower, while implementing features, and fixing bugs, we are learning how to go through the code.. But for the project to take off seriously we need more help (or we need to start a global fight for reducing working hours globally, probably max 4 days of work per week should be the minimum acceptable), so please if you see something that you can work on, let us know, work on it create a PR, every little contribution helps. And if you want to be more involved, you can reach us on irc OFTC in the channel #evi and talk to us about your idea, or how you wish to contribute. For contributions on evi go to the main repository, otherwise for package specific contributions, or with the website, look for the repository in the organization page.
